This has been bugging me for too long. On Mick Mars' mirror guitar, he sometimes had a strange box thing with wires behind the headstock. It's visible in some shots of the SOS video with the pointed neck, and VERY clear in this pic with the rounded neck.

The box seems to have a toggle switch on one side. I've theorized it's either overkill head stock reinforcement (this neck DID break at one point) or some sort of pre-Snark attached tuner. Love to know if anyone knows what it really is.

I wondered about this as well.

Ironically, this apparatus was mentioned in the weird/error laced story of the supposed Mick Mars "butt f'n ugly" WWE tele.

"After that short run of shows Mick had a falling out with Kramer and stopped playing their guitars. You can see the area on the back of the neck where Mick's rocket device on the Mirror guitar was hooked up."

Maybe it was a rocket device. Maybe it wasn't.

I saw the Feelgood tour in Philly in 89 and I don't recall Mick having any rockets/flames shooting from his guitar. But that was a long time ago.

Ha, I WISH I was sober enough to remember the details of that show (or most of that decade).
Maybe he didn't fire it on stage and instead it was for keeping Tommy and Vince away.

Mystery solved.

https://youtu.be/_XQ3vRgpkg4?t=43m3s

43:03. Mick does a pick slide, fires sparks from his guitar, and "shoots" his cabinets.

Once again solidifying how effing awesome Mick Mars is.
